September 20, 2019 — Idaho Governor Brad Little has issued a state proclamation recognizing September 23-27, 2019 as National Clean Energy Week in his home state.
In the proclamation, Gov. Little notes that “Idaho is a national leader in clean energy, with our rivers supplying half of our net electricity generation, the fourth-largest hydroelectricity share in the nation.”
Idaho is now one of 20 states in the country to formally recognize National Clean Energy Week 2019. In 2018, a total of 29 governors, both Republican and Democratic, issued state proclamations declaring September 24-28, 2018 as National Clean Energy Week.

The Office of the Governor
WHEREAS, clean and readily abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses across Idaho than ever before; and 75 percent of our utility-scale net electricity now comes from renewable energy sources; and
WHEREAS, Idaho is a national leader in clean energy, with our rivers supplying half of our net electricity generation, the fourth-largest hydroelectricity share in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Idaho is rich in renewable energy sources with its volcanic formations providing one of the best geothermal potential in the nation, and Idaho is one of eight states with geothermal power capacity; and
WHEREAS, the clean energy sector is a growing part of the economy and has been a key driver of economic growth in Idaho in recent years, supplying more than 24,000 in-state, nonexportable jobs to Idahoans; and
WHEREAS, research and innovation for cleaner technology use is necessary and is made possible in Idaho thanks to such organizations such as the Idaho National Laboratory and the Idaho Clean Energy Association, as well as collaboration with local and state partners; and
WHEREAS, as America celebrates National Clean Energy Week, I encourage individuals and organizations in Idaho to support commonsense solutions that address America’s economic and energy needs in the 21st century; and
WHEREAS, we must harness the power of Idaho entrepreneurs and small businesses, ensure government collaboration to assert American energy leadership and dominance in the global marketplace, and provide access to low-cost reliable energy here at home.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRAD LITTLE, Governor of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the week of September 23-26, 2019 to be
NATIONAL CLEAN ENERGY WEEK
In Idaho, and I encourage all municipalities and individuals to implement the cleanest, lowest-emitting energy technologies available.
