September 23, 2019 — Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has issued a state proclamation recognizing October as Energy Awareness Month in his home state.
In the proclamation, Gov. Bryant notes that “reliable, abundant and affordable energy is critical to Mississippi’s prosperity and quality of life, and energy resources have laid the foundation for our nation’s economic security and prosperity.”
Mississippi is now one of 21 states in the country to formally recognize National Clean Energy Week 2019.

STATE OF MISSISSIPPI
Office of the Governor
WHEREAS, reliable, abundant and affordable energy is critical to Mississippi’s prosperity and quality of life, and energy resources have laid the foundation for our nation’s economic security and prosperity; and
WHEREAS, the production and consumption of energy affects our everyday activities and natural resources; and
WHEREAS, Mississippi provides innovative statewide programs encouraging energy infrastructure development, energy efficiency and renewable energy within state government, throughout its local governments and among its citizens, businesses, industries, and educational institutions; and
WHEREAS, energy sector development can offer employment and economic opportunities, and innovation in energy technology will strengthen our economy; and
WHEREAS, all Mississippians can continue to contribute to the beauty and efficiency of Mississippi by becoming energy aware and energy efficient in their homes and in their work and recreation areas; and
WHEREAS, National Clean Energy Week is September 23-27, and Careers in Energy Week is October 14-18; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Energy has designated October as National Energy Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Development Authority’s Energy and Natural Resources Division has designated this year’s theme to be “Energy Dominance.”
NOW, THEREFORE, I Phil Bryant, Governor of the State of Mississippi, do hereby proclaim October 2019 as
ENERGY AWARENESS MONTH
in the State of Mississippi and urge all citizens to acknowledge and honor this observance.
