Bipartisan Members Join High-Profile Group of Congressional Speakers for Third Annual Event
September 3, 2019 — As the third annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) nears, today organizers announced that U.S. Representatives Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Paul Tonko (D-NY) will deliver remarks at the Policy Makers Symposium, a centerpiece of the week’s events. This year’s National Clean Energy Week will take place from Monday, September 23 through Friday, September 27, 2019.
Gaetz and Tonko join an already high-profile, bipartisan group of speakers for the Policy Makers Symposium, which takes place on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET at the National Press Club. Those congressional speakers include U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), U.S. Representative Garret Graves (R-LA) and U.S. Representative Scott Peters (D-CA).
In the U.S. House of Representatives, both Gaetz and Tonko have become outspoken leaders on the issues of clean energy and climate change. Earlier this year, U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) put forward the “Green Real Deal,” a House resolution that stresses the need for, and effectiveness of, free-market solutions to address carbon emissions and subsequently climate change. Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) currently serves as chairman of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change.
Now in its third year, NCEW brings together government officials, industry associations, businesses, non-profits, and advocates in the clean energy space for events in Washington, D.C. and across America to showcase how they are helping to make the clean energy sector stronger, and influence the discussion around responsible clean energy solutions that directly address America’s need for abundant, reliable forms of energy.
“National Clean Energy Week is on track to be fall’s premier clean energy event, and we are thrilled to welcome Congressman Matt Gaetz and Congressman Paul Tonko to the Policy Makers Symposium,” said Heather Reams, NCEW chair. “During the past few years, we’ve seen remarkable bipartisanship and collaboration among legislators, trade groups and businesses when it comes to having a dialogue about clean energy solutions, and we look forward to continuing these meaningful discussions at this year’s Symposium.”
Media is encouraged to attend the event and can RSVP here.
