September 21 — Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval issued a proclamation recognizing the week of September 25-29, 2017 as National Clean Energy Week (NCEW). The Silver State, formally acknowledges the clean energy sector as “a driver of economic growth in Nevada,” and supports Nevada entrepreneurs and small businesses in asserting “American energy leadership and dominance in the global marketplace.”

“WHEREAS, across Nevada clean and readily abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses than ever before; and
“WHEREAS, clean energy is part of America’s energy future and it includes generation from renewable sources such as wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal, but it also includes nuclear, natural gas, and carbon capture technologies as well as energy storage; and
“WHEREAS, Nevada’s energy sector is strong thanks to tremendous natural resources, modern infrastructure, and enhanced incentives that attract energy developers from around the world; and
“WHEREAS, the clean energy sector is a growing part of the economy and has been a driver of economic growth in Nevada and the number of jobs in the clean energy sector grew by 5.9 percent last year and by 21.4 percent since 2012, with more than 25,800 people currently employed in the clean energy sector; and
“WHEREAS, clean energy jobs are inherently local and contribute to the growth of economies across the Silver State; and
“WHEREAS, Clean Energy Week is an opportunity to support solutions that address America’s economic and energy needs in the 21st century; and
“WHEREAS, we must harness the power of Nevada entrepreneurs and small businesses and ensure government collaboration to assert American energy leadership and dominance in the global marketplace and assure low-cost reliable energy at home;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of September 25 – 29, 2017 as
CLEAN ENERGY WEEK IN NEVADA
