September 24, 2019 — Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak has issued a state proclamation recognizing September 23-27, 2019 as Clean Energy Week in his home state.
In the proclamation, Gov. Sisolak says that Nevada’s “energy sector is strong thanks to abundant renewable energy resources, modern infrastructure, and incentives that attract energy developers from around the world.”
Nevada is now one of 26 states plus Washington, D.C., to formally recognize National Clean Energy Week 2019.

STATE OF NEVADA
A Proclamation by the Governor
WHEREAS, across Nevada, abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses than ever before; and
WHEREAS, clean, renewable energy is part of America’s energy future and it includes generation from renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada has committed to a renewable portfolio standard of 50 percent by 2030 and set a goal of achieving, by 2050, 100% of energy production from zero carbon dioxide emission resources, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and create jobs for Nevadans across the state, and help Nevada meet its economy-wide greenhouse gas reduction goals; and
WHEREAS, Nevada ranks fourth in the nation in installed solar capacity, and energy from solar power provides approximately 12 percent electricity generated in the state, with new solar projects being regularly developed; and
WHEREAS, Nevada’s energy sector is strong thanks to abundant renewable energy resources, modern infrastructure, and incentives that attract energy developers from around the world; and
WHEREAS, the clean energy sector is a growing part of the economy and has been a driver of economic growth in Nevada as the number of jobs in the clean energy sector increase; and
WHEREAS, Clean Energy Week is an opportunity to support solutions that address America’s economic and energy needs in the 21st century; and
WHEREAS, we must harness the power of Nevada entrepreneurs and small businesses and ensure government collaboration to assert American energy leadership in the global marketplace and assure low-cost reliable energy to all;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of September 23-27, 2019 as
CLEAN ENERGY WEEK IN NEVADA
