North Dakota Governor Burgum Recognizes Clean Energy Week

August 29, 2019 — North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has issued a state proclamation recognizing September 23-27, 2019 as Clean Energy Week in his home state.

In his proclamation, Gov. Burgum notes that the State of North Dakota “is a significant contributor to our nation’s energy security,” and that it “supports the development of a strong in-state renewable energy manufacturing sector to further diversify our economy.”

North Dakota is now the sixth state in the country to formally recognize National Clean Energy Week 2019. Recently, Virginia Governor Ralph NorthamNew Hampshire Governor Christopher SununuIowa Governor Kim ReynoldsAlabama Governor Kay Ivey and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed proclamations supporting NCEW in their home states.

Clean Energy Week

September 23-27, 2019

WHEREAS, the State of North Dakota boasts an all-inclusive energy portfolio, including wind, hydropower, solar and waste heat-generated power, which is supported by a reliable baseload provided by clean fossil fuel-generated energy; and 

WHEREAS, the State of North Dakota is a significant contributor to our nation’s energy security, ranking No. 2 in crude oil production and No. 6 in total energy produced; and

WHEREAS, North Dakota supports the development of a strong in-state renewable energy manufacturing sector to further diversify our economy; and 

WHEREAS, the energy sector is a growing part of the economy and has been a key driver of economic growth in North Dakota in recent years, employing nearly 32,000 North Dakotans; and 

WHEREAS, North Dakota is committed to developing innovative solutions for clean and reliable forms of energy, including technologies like carbon capture, utilization and storage which continue to transform our fossil fuel energy; and 

WHEREAS, we must harness the power of entrepreneurs and small businesses in North Dakota, along with government collaboration, to assert American energy leadership in the global marketplace and assure low-cost, reliable energy here at home, including both carbon and renewable energy sources. 

NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim September 23-27, 2019, as CLEAN ENERGY WEEK in the State of North Dakota.
