Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Recognizes Clean Energy Week 2024

DES MOINES, Iowa – For the sixth year in a row, Governor Kim Reynolds has officially proclaimed September 23-27, 2024, as Clean Energy Week in Iowa. This proclamation was issued in conjunction with the 8th Annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW)

“I commend Governor Reynolds for recognizing Clean Energy Week in Iowa,” said Heather Reams, chair of NCEW. “Advancing clean energy projects across the country is not only good environmental stewardship, but it is also economically prudent as it spurs the creation of jobs in local communities and strengthens state economies all while providing affordable, reliable clean energy to residents. Governor Reynolds understands this, and I am encouraged by Iowa’s potential to lead the rest of the nation in clean energy innovation and investment.”

“Across Iowa, clean and readily abundant forms of energy power more homes and businesses than ever before,” said Governor Reynolds. “Clean energy is part of America’s energy future.”

As Governor Reynold’s proclamation highlights, Iowa is the nation’s largest ethanol and biodiesel fuel producer. In addition, 62 percent of the state’s electricity is generated by wind turbines, and Iowa has the largest wind power share in the country.

Last year, Governor Reynolds was among the 37 governors and 49 municipalities that issued proclamations to recognize Clean Energy Week. Learn more about the state proclamations here.

Founded in 2017, NCEW serves as a bipartisan forum convening clean energy leaders and advocates from across the country. The week features dynamic programming, including the Policymakers Symposium—a free, two-day in-person event that spotlights elected officials, business leaders, advocates, policymakers, investors and trade association voices who are committed to promoting clean energy.
