Kendall Stephenson is the Government Relations Manager at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America (MHIA), based in Washington, D.C. Stephenson leads government relations for MHIA where she provides strategic analysis on energy policy, regulatory developments, and legislative initiatives impacting the company’s U.S. business interests. Her work spans issues related to carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), gas turbines, power generation and select defense-related matters. She supports MHIA in shaping advocacy and advancing company initiatives across both public and private sectors. Prior to joining MHIA, Stephenson was a Senior Manager of Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Energy Institute (GEI). In that role, she focused on energy security issues related to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and directed its programming for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP), helping shape the Chamber’s international engagement on energy and climate issues. Additionally, she led the Chamber’s hydrogen policy and clean energy tax credit portfolio, with a focus on advancing implementation strategies for major federal legislation such as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Stephenson was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, and earned her B.A. in Political Science with minors in History and Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her undergraduate studies, she interned in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives for Members of Congress from North Carolina and spent a semester abroad in London, interning at a nonprofit focused on civic engagement among youth. She is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Georgetown University, further deepening her expertise at the intersection of energy, policy, and global business. Stephenson resides in Washington, D.C., where she enjoys long walks around the city and completing The New York Times daily mini crossword puzzle.
