Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo Recognizes Clean Energy Week 2024

CARSON CITY, Nev. – For the second year in a row, Governor Joe Lombardo (R-Nev.) officially proclaimed September 23-27, 2024, as Clean Energy Week in Nevada. This proclamation was issued in conjunction with the 8th Annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW).

“I commend Governor Lombardo for recognizing Clean Energy Week in Nevada,” said Heather Reams, chair of NCEW. “Advancing clean energy projects across the country is not only good environmental stewardship, but it is also economically prudent as it spurs the creation of jobs in local communities and strengthens state economies all while providing affordable, reliable clean energy to residents. Governor Lombardo understands this, and I am encouraged by Nevada’s potential to lead the rest of the nation in clean energy innovation and investment.”

“Across Nevada, abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses than ever before,” Governor Lombardo stated in the proclamation. “Nevada’s energy sector is strong with abundant renewable resources, modern infrastructure and incentives attracting global developers, driving economic growth as clean energy jobs increase.”

As Governor Lombardo’s proclamation highlights, Nevada’s clean energy sector accounted for over 32,800 jobs in 2022. In addition, Nevada provided 26 percent of the nation’s geothermally sourced electricity generation last year and has a first-of-its-kind hybrid geothermal-solar power plant.

Last year, Governor Lombardo was among the 37 governors and 49 municipalities that issued proclamations to recognize Clean Energy Week. Learn more about the state proclamations here.

Founded in 2017, NCEW serves as a bipartisan forum convening clean energy leaders and advocates from across the country. The week features dynamic programming, including the Policymakers Symposium—a free, two-day in-person event that spotlights elected officials, business leaders, advocates, policymakers, investors and trade association voices who are committed to promoting clean energy.
