Born and raised in Southeast Alaska, Mike Satre has 30 years of technical and management experience within the mining industry. His professional background consists of work as a geologist in open-pit and underground mines in Nevada and Alaska.
In 2013, Mike became the Manager of Government and Community Relations for the Hecla Greens Creek Mine in Alaska and in 2021 became the corporate Director – Governmental Affairs for Hecla.

Hecla has operating mines in Alaska, Idaho, and Yukon Territory, Canada. They also have a number of exploration properties in world-class silver and gold mining districts throughout North America.
In addition to his Hecla roles, Mike is a past president and current board member of the American Exploration and Mining Association, Alaska Miners Association, and Alaska Chamber. He also serves on the boards of the Nevada Mining Association, Montana Mining Association and the Alaska Resource Development Council.
