Colorado Governor Jared Polis Recognizes Clean Energy Week 2024
DENVER – For the fifth year in a row, Governor Jared Polis (D-Col.) has officially proclaimed September 23-27, 2024, as Clean Energy Week in Colorado. This proclamation was issued in conjunction with the 8th Annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW).
“I commend Governor Polis for recognizing Clean Energy Week in Colorado,” said Heather Reams, chair of NCEW. “Advancing clean energy projects across the country is not only good environmental stewardship, but it is also economically prudent as it spurs the creation of jobs in local communities and strengthens state economies all while providing affordable, reliable clean energy to residents. Governor Polis understands this, and I am encouraged by Colorado’s potential to lead the rest of the nation in clean energy innovation and investment.”
“Across Colorado, clean and readily abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses than ever before,” Governor Polis stated in the proclamation. “Clean energy is part of America’s energy future and critical to providing less volatile, lower-cost and secure energy.”
As Governor Polis’ proclamation highlights, the clean energy sector has provided over 66,000 jobs in Colorado and renewable sources accounted for 39 percent of the state’s total in-state electricity net generation. In addition, Colorado has received over $2.18 billion in private investment for renewable energy.
Last year, Governor Polis was among the 37 governors and 49 municipalities that issued proclamations to recognize Clean Energy Week. Learn more about the state proclamations here.
Founded in 2017, NCEW serves as a bipartisan forum convening clean energy leaders and advocates from across the country.
