Tennessee Governor Bill Lee Recognizes Clean Energy Week 2024
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the fifth year in a row, Governor Bill Lee (R-Tenn.) has officially proclaimed September 23-27, 2024, as Clean Energy Week in Tennessee. This proclamation was issued in conjunction with the 8th Annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW).
“I commend Governor Lee for recognizing Clean Energy Week in Tennessee,” said Heather Reams, chair of NCEW. “Advancing clean energy projects across the country is not only good environmental stewardship, but it is also economically prudent as it spurs the creation of jobs in local communities and strengthens state economies all while providing affordable, reliable clean energy to residents. Governor Lee understands this, and I am encouraged by Tennessee’s potential to lead the rest of the nation in clean energy innovation and investment.”
“The clean energy industry employs thousands of Tennesseans and contributes to greater economic opportunity for families across the state,” Governor Lee stated in the proclamation. “Tennessee is well-positioned to lead America’s energy independence and security, serving as a model for the rest of the national while bringing continued opportunity and prosperity to Tennesseans.”
As Governor Lee’s proclamation highlights, Tennessee is home to the Oak Ridge Laboratory which plays a significant role in advancing nuclear energy research and development. This year, the state also created the Tennessee Nuclear Energy Advisory Council to aid in the continued development of nuclear energy innovation.
Last year, Governor Lee was among the 37 governors and 49 municipalities that issued proclamations to recognize Clean Energy Week. Learn more about the state proclamations here.
Founded in 2017, NCEW serves as a bipartisan forum convening clean energy leaders and advocates from across the country.
