Vermont Governor Phil Scott Recognizes Clean Energy Week 2024
MONTPELIER, Vt. – For the sixth year in a row, Governor Phil Scott (R-Vt.) has officially proclaimed September 23-27, 2024, as Clean Energy Week in Vermont. This proclamation was issued in conjunction with the 8th Annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW).
“I commend Governor Scott for recognizing Clean Energy Week in Vermont,” said Heather Reams, chair of NCEW. “Advancing clean energy projects across the country is not only good environmental stewardship, but it is also economically prudent as it spurs the creation of jobs in local communities and strengthens state economies all while providing affordable, reliable clean energy to residents. Governor Scott understands this, and I am encouraged by Vermont’s potential to lead the rest of the nation in clean energy innovation and investment.”
“Across Vermont, clean and readily abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses than ever before,” Governor Scott stated in the proclamation. “Vermont is committed to renewable energy that benefits our economy and environment.”
As Governor Scott’s proclamation highlights, Vermont has the highest clean energy employment per capita int he nation at three percent and the state’s clean energy sector represents more than 18,000 jobs. In addition, nearly 90 percent of Vermont’s electricity delivered to residents is sourced from clean energy generation.
Last year, Governor Scott was among the 37 governors and 49 municipalities that issued proclamations to recognize Clean Energy Week. Learn more about the state proclamations here.
