WASHINGTON – During the 10th Annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW), the Governors of North Dakota, Florida, Ohio, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Idaho, Colorado, Vermont, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and North Carolina issued proclamations recognizing September 14-18, 2026, as Clean Energy Week. The proclamations were issued by Govs. Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.), Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), Mike DeWine (R-Ohio), Josh Green (D-Hawaii), Maura Healey (D-Mass.), Brad Little (R-Idaho), Jared Polis (D-Colo.), Phil Scott (R-Vt.), Josh Shapiro (D-Pa.), Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) and Josh Stein (D-N.C.).

These leaders join Alaska, Arizona, District of Columbia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina and Wisconsin, whose governors and mayor issued the first proclamations of the year. View all 2026 proclamations here.

“North Dakota boasts an all-inclusive energy portfolio, including wind, hydropower, solar and waste heat-generated power, which is supported by a reliable baseload provided by clean fossil fuel-generated energy,” Governor Armstrong stated in the proclamation.

“Florida leads the nation in common-sense energy policy, championing innovation, consumer choice, and reliability while maintaining the nation’s leading economy, reducing reliance on foreign countries, and securing affordable and reliable energy for its people,” Governor Ron DeSantis stated in the proclamation.

“Ohio has long been a national leader in energy production, manufacturing, and innovation, with abundant natural resources and a skilled workforce, all of which have helped power the economic prosperity of our state and nation,” Governor DeWine stated in the proclamation.

“The clean energy sector creates local jobs and contributes to the growth of the state’s innovation economy, providing employment for 13,659 Hawai’i residents in 2025,” Governor Green stated in the proclamation.

“Massachusetts is committed to clean and renewable energy that benefits our economy and environment; and reducing our carbon emissions is essential to the health of our state, residents, and planet,” Governor Healey stated in the proclamation.

“As America celebrates National Clean Energy Week, I encourage individuals and organizations in Idaho to support commonsense solutions that address America’s economic and energy needs,” Governor Little stated in the proclamation.

“The clean energy sector is a growing part of the economy and has been a key driver of economic growth in Colorado in recent years, with over 69,859 clean energy jobs in Colorado,” Governor Polis stated in the proclamation.

“Since 2015, Vermont annually generates almost 100% of its electricity from renewable resources – the largest share of in-state renewable generation of any state with about 51% of Vermont’s total electricity generation coming from hydroelectric power,” Governor Scott stated in the proclamation.

“The Commonwealth’s clean energy sector includes work in renewable resources such as wind, solar, nuclear, and hydroelectric power, as well as jobs in energy conservation, efficiency, and storage,” Governor Shapiro stated in the proclamation.

“New Jersey remains committed to pursuing responsible and cost-effective energy solutions that protect ratepayers, strengthen communities, and preserve the State’s natural resources for future generations,” Governor Sherrill stated in the proclamation.

“The State of North Carolina encourages individuals and organizations to observe Clean Energy Week by learning about and adopting solutions that advance America’s clean energy opportunities and cost savings in the 21st century,” Governor Stein stated in the proclamation.

Launched in 2017, National Clean Energy Week continues to serve as a bipartisan platform for advancing clean energy solutions.
